There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception!
And, we see this more often than not in the Recruitment business!
Now, take a typical case of a job description from a client, for a senior level difficult search mandate, to be based at a remote location to grow a new business
The recruiter on seeing the job description and after the conversation with the Hiring Manager has already decided that this is a tough one and strongly believes that with great difficulty, there perhaps could be one or two candidates who may be a fit into this requirement and be ready to interview for the same
She rushes through her internal database, her networks, her contacts, with a sense of paranoia and comes across a profile that seems to be fitting into the description and requirement. She’s about to make that call and has a relook at that Senior VP profile and thinks to herself
a) Why would he want to trade his job off, with this new start-up venture?
b) Why would he want to move out of his home country and take on the challenges of cultural adaptability in a new and alien environment
c) Why would he want to move at a similar cost or maybe take a pay-cut for a new venture and the risks associated with a new business set-up
d) What would he think about my experience, if I even called him and spoke to him about this opening
And, when you actually make the phone call, you realize…..
Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change!
To change ourselves effectively, we first have to change our perceptions!
There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception!
